Beauty Pageants
Beauty pageant or contest is not just about physical and outer beauty. The main objective is encourage the participants and winners to promote the culture, the rich heritage of Cebu and the tourism industry for the betterment of residents and government – be it male or female beauty contest or competition.
Mr. Cebu
The Queen City of the South held its first ever male competition last October 10, 2008 at Waterfront Hotel and Casino Grand Ballroom. Sixteen young bachelors of Cebu battled for the prestigious title with great prizes for the winners and special awardees.

The production number marked the opening of the pageant hosted by actress Angel Aquino and Bb. Pilipinas World Ana Maris Igpit. One of the most interesting parts of the program was the Swim wear portion. The candidates were wearing board shorts instead of skimpy trunks, which make it different from other male competitions. The James Bond 007 inspired formal attire portion showcased the outstanding creations of Cebu fashion designers.
David Chai Tingalin, 20 year old and call centre agent bagged grand title. Then, Hans Grogaard and Kurt Agbay got the 1st runner up and 2nd runner up titles. More to expect next year because Mr. Cebu is sure to become a yearly event.
Miss Cebu
Miss Cebu is a yearly beauty pageant to showcase the unrivalled wonders of the island of Cebu. The pageant aims to find the perfect Cebuana to promote the rich culture and heritage of the province. Likewise, this yearly spectacle is to show the creativity of Cebu designers and talents.
Miss Casino Filipino Cebu 2007 Winners
To be able to join in this respectable pageant, applicants should be Filipino citizen and Cebu resident for not less than one year. Other than that, she should be single and able to speak fluent English, ages between 18 and 25. Accordingly, she should at least stand 5 feet with pleasing personality and of good moral character. Most of all, she is willing to travel and reign for a term of one year. Interested applicants can visit the office of Cebu City Tourism Commission located at Rizal Memorial Library & Museum, Osmeña Blvd., for the official entry forms.
Sports Activities
Cebu is not only known for dried mangoes, danggit, otap and the Sinulog Festival, but it also hosts a number of sports tournaments and races the whole year round. Drag racing tournaments for one, has become a big event in Cebu since a lot of Cebuanos are now into car racing, karting and motocross.

Drag racing is a dangerous sport for automobiles and motorcycles that can lead to serious physical injuries or death. Here, in Cebu, Mayor Tommy Osmeña Cup International Drag Racing competition is held annually that aims to stop the illegal drag racing in the country and in Cebu.
Recreation Center
The wide lanes of South Road Properties (SRP) make it the perfect destination for the annual race participated by various racing teams from different parts of the country. To successfully hold the race without sacrificing the public commuters, the SRP road is opened from 5 a.m. until 8 am and 5 pm until 8 p.m.
However, this yearly competition gained media criticisms. Despite all these the organizers are firm with their belief that through legally organized competition, accidents and illegal drag racing activities will be stopped. Most of all, it will promote Cebu as the premier destination for Class A drag racing competitions.
The coronation night of Miss Cebu is held every January before the grand Sinulog parade.
