Cebu City has its own share of popular fashion designers with world class talents. Cebuanos have earned their respective reputation in the fashion industry with the likes of Jun Escario, Philip Rodriguez and Monique Lhullier to name a few. Generally, they showcase their new line of clothing and accessories through staging fashion shows from time to time. Most of these fashion shows are commonly held at the Cebu City Waterfront Hotel. However, different types of fashion shows are also being celebrated all along the metropolis, with shopping malls as one popular avenue where local talents are encouraged to show their creations.

One of the recent fashion shows that has hit the limelight was Bijoux Cebu, an international fashion accessories show. This first time event was organized by Cebu Fashion Accessories Manufacturers and Exporters or Fame. This was held last September 20-22 at the Shangri-La’s Mactan Island Resort and Spa. It garnered around $1.7 million from its initial earnings due to the Cebu exhibit. This show was also participated by Filipino exhibitors to garner international exposure.
Even if we do not buy directly from these exhibits, we should show support by being aware of such events. As Cebuanos, this is one way of showing encouragement for our local fashion designers by attending fashion shows.
